Astrological Moon

In general Astrology, so much emphasis has been given to the Sun. Almost everyone in contemporary society has been introduced to Astrology by way of the Sun signs.

For decades upon decades, Sun sign Astrology has taken over in the mainstream with very little regard for the abundant, complex layers of Astrology as a whole.

Yes, our Sun signs hold a wealth of substantial information about how we live or lives. However, too much focus on it has robbed most of us of the opportunity to know our most intimate selves, the part of us that can only be found within the lush realms of the Astrological Moon.

Emotions

Astrologically, the Moon represents receptive, feminine energy, the nurturing energy of the mother. This contrasts with the masculine Sun, representing our main personality, vitality, and identity.

The Moon rules over the emotional expansiveness within each and everyone of us. It is our innate, instinctual nature where we are most comfortable and most vulnerable.

Relationship with mother

The Zodiac sign of the Moon in a person’s birth chart strongly correlates to how the mother is experienced by the chart holder.

Data gathered among Gemini Moon natives indicate a maternal relationship with incessant, fertile communication.

A person with Leo Moon would most probably speak about having a mother with a regal bearing who takes immense pride in her children.

More often than not, when asked to describe their mothers, Leo Moon natives describe a mother with glamorous hair that is well maintained. The Lion is known for its mane, after all!

Mothering style

The Moon sign’s energy also highly determines the chart holder’s parenting style. For example, a high percentage of Sagittarius Moon natives make it a goal for their children to be able to travel and study abroad. With Sagittarius being the sign of the traveler and the scholar, this is not surprising. This is a stark contrast when compared to Cancer Moon natives, the natural sign of the mother. Majority of them share feelings of extreme anxiety upon the thought of their children leaving the nest.

Safe and secure

Knowing the condition of the Natal Moon in a birth chart provides unparalleled insight on the chart holder’s emotional requirements in order to feel fully safe and secure. Its placement also gives valuable information on subconscious cravings that the chart holder may or may not be aware of.

For example, a person with Aries Moon unconsciously needs to master independence and courage in order to feel emotionally fulfilled. Aries is the archetype of the warrior. Being the first sign of the Zodiac, it fiercely represents the birth of the self and the ability to distinguish itself apart from the world around it. To be able to defend the self and to establish its boundaries is the core of the archetype. Thus, Aries Moon natives may find themselves in emotional situations that require a certain degree of crisis, where they may need to defend themselves, more often than others. This reinforces a strong sense of self that allows for the feeling of internal safety and security.

Relationships that click

Since the Moon sign determines what makes the heart feel safe and protected, understanding it will greatly help navigate all kinds of intimate relationships, from romantic relationships to those between friends and, most especially, family.

Moon sign compatibilities hold more weight in associations wherein a great deal of emotion and feelings are exchanged. Being around people with complementary Moon signs tend to elicit a strong sense of kinship and affinity, where you just “get” each other on an emotional level, beyond any words or explanations.

Determining Your Moon

Sign Being the fastest moving “planet” in the sky, the Moon travels through a Zodiac sign every two and a half days. Because of its quick movement and change in its phases (where every phase greatly modifies its interpretation) it’s considered a strong variable in one’s nativity. One’s exact birth date, time and location are needed in order to determine the exact position and condition of the Moon in your birth chart. Simply input the data in any online birth chart calculator. If the exact birth time is not available, search online for an Astrological Ephemeris, a list of planetary positions during a certain period of time. Look for your birth date. If fortune allows for it, the Moon may not have changed signs during your date of birth. For those searching, best of luck!

Balatik, Filipino hunting trap inspired by Orion: On reading about Philippine pre-colonial astronomy

By Col. Romeo Solina, PA, retired Col. Romy Solina and his BALATIK diorama A few weeks ago, “Resti” Santiago, an astrologer friend, sent me a book entitled “BALATIK.” It is a book written by a University of the Philippines professor Dante L. Ambrosio, and subtitled “Etnoastronomiya, Kalangitan sa Kabihasnang Pilipino” and obviously in the Tagalog (Filipino) language. Although I was born in Manila and an a Tagalog, I found it rather a problem reading the contents of the book. Still, I must go over it since I must be knowledgeable in my own native language. On the other hand, the author must have a doctorate, having gone through the baccalaureate and master degrees to be able to write this treatise in the university as I also have gone through. The Balatik book concerns the methods used by the natives of the Philippines using the signs in the skies in order to determine certain seasons for their activities, such as fishing, sailing, hunting, planting, harvesting, and so on. ...

100 Years: The Life and Work of Serafin Lanot (Part 2)

By Ime Morales Read Part 1 Overhauling the Zodiac As the best known astrologer in the country at the time, mainly because of his book Astrology Through Filipino Eyes, which was read not only in America but also across Europe, Serafin Lanot was the only Filipino who got invited to attend the international conference of the American Federation of Astrologers or the AFA. In fact, he was made a member of the AFA convention faculty. During the conference, he presented his paper titled, One World, One Astrology. He wrote in that paper: "Now is the time for astrologers to assume the leadership in this fight for change, no longer as mere consultants and counselors to money changers and reactionary leaders, but as leaders themselves during this Age of Aquarius, assuming the mantle of seer and sage that both history and legend have thrust upon us." He went on to propose a "one world, one astrology" based on "reason, intuition and inspiration, to harmoniz...

WILL BBM BE PRESIDENT?

Bongbong Marcos. Image from Wikipedia By Carlota Elauria With contribution of Derrick Jan Lim June 7, 2018   Bongbong Marcos has been in the public eye in recent times, most prominently due to the controversy surrounding his highly-disputed loss in the race for Vice President of the Philippines in the 2016 Elections. With the petition still pending in the Supreme Court, his fate currently hangs in the balance. However, another burning question looms beyond the horizon: will BBM one day sit in Malacanang Palace, under the seal of President of the Philippines? His supporters might beam in hope and anticipation at the thought, while his detractors might yell “nay!” in fear and trepidation. To answer this question, we delve into the study of his natal chart, the transiting planets, and his career history. Upon such investigation, the authors have divided the possibilities into three periods: (1) the present until 2022 via President Duterte’s term; (2) the 2022-2028 Pre...
