Leo 2020

Written by Carlota Elauria

This forecast is for your Ascendant sign,
which can be computed at Filipinoastrologer.com

Opportunities
You are set to have a new career opportunity or milestone at the opening of the year as the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn on Dec. 26, 2019, works with Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto direct in Capricorn to launch significant career beginnings.

In your 6th House of work and health, this could indicate a new job, health concern or fitness regimen. It is an excellent time to maximize efficiency and let go of unhealthy habits.

The Great Conjunction in Aquarius on Dec. 22 occurs in your 7th House of partnerships, so a significant event in your love life or marriage that has far-reaching consequences into the future may occur towards the end of the year. Engagement, separation, or marriage, perhaps? This could also manifest as a great change in your close friendships or business partnerships.

Challenges
You are likely one of the busiest ones this year, as Jupiter in the 6th House blows up your workload. This should ease up a little when it goes retrograde with Saturn in May to September 2020.

Saturn's short entry into Aquarius from March 22 to July 2 may give you a taste of heavier relationship pressures or responsibilities, or, if you are single, loneliness.

The Solar Eclipse in Cancer on June 21 occurring in your 12th House may cause four or five months of relative scatteredness and confusion, but also immense spiritual growth. Watch out for bad habits creeping in once more during this time. Music, movies, fiction, esoteric studies, art, and other spiritual pursuits, however, will help nourish your soul.

Balatik, Filipino hunting trap inspired by Orion: On reading about Philippine pre-colonial astronomy

By Col. Romeo Solina, PA, retired Col. Romy Solina and his BALATIK diorama A few weeks ago, “Resti” Santiago, an astrologer friend, sent me a book entitled “BALATIK.” It is a book written by a University of the Philippines professor Dante L. Ambrosio, and subtitled “Etnoastronomiya, Kalangitan sa Kabihasnang Pilipino” and obviously in the Tagalog (Filipino) language. Although I was born in Manila and an a Tagalog, I found it rather a problem reading the contents of the book. Still, I must go over it since I must be knowledgeable in my own native language. On the other hand, the author must have a doctorate, having gone through the baccalaureate and master degrees to be able to write this treatise in the university as I also have gone through. The Balatik book concerns the methods used by the natives of the Philippines using the signs in the skies in order to determine certain seasons for their activities, such as fishing, sailing, hunting, planting, harvesting, and so on. ...

100 Years: The Life and Work of Serafin Lanot (Part 2)

By Ime Morales Read Part 1 Overhauling the Zodiac As the best known astrologer in the country at the time, mainly because of his book Astrology Through Filipino Eyes, which was read not only in America but also across Europe, Serafin Lanot was the only Filipino who got invited to attend the international conference of the American Federation of Astrologers or the AFA. In fact, he was made a member of the AFA convention faculty. During the conference, he presented his paper titled, One World, One Astrology. He wrote in that paper: "Now is the time for astrologers to assume the leadership in this fight for change, no longer as mere consultants and counselors to money changers and reactionary leaders, but as leaders themselves during this Age of Aquarius, assuming the mantle of seer and sage that both history and legend have thrust upon us." He went on to propose a "one world, one astrology" based on "reason, intuition and inspiration, to harmoniz...

100 Years: The Life and Work of Serafin Lanot (Part 1)

By Ime Morales Photos by Kat Palasi ( wwwkatpalasi.tumblr.com ) Serafin Lanot Lanot's former office As part of our research work on the life of Filipino astrologer and writer Serafin Lanot I, together with my friends from my astrology group (Astro Friends), trooped to the home of the Lanot-Lacabas to dig through the family library and go through the old journals and books of Serafin Lanot. There we discovered old certificates, rare books on astrology and even antique astrological equipment. The facts we unearthed, together with information gathered from books, Internet sources and interviews, helped build the report that I wrote for AFP in 2012. One year later, these materials also served to form my presentation on Serafin Lanot on the occasion of his 100th birthday. Finally, I am using the wealth of information culled from our collective research effort to write this entry for the website of AFP. For serious students of astrology in the Philippines, it is imp...
