You are invited!
Beyond the 13th Zodiac Sign Forum
Making Astrology Work for You

The Yuchengco Museum kicks off the year with an event entitled BRIDGING CULTURES: The World Views Forum Series with the first one focused on the recent media hype that dominated the social media and garnered international news mentions. This was about Ophiuchus which astronomer Parke Kunkle told the NBC news was the "13th zodiac sign" sending many into an astrological identity crisis. This pronouncement has created questions and more questions which only astrologers could answer.

On January 28, 2011 Friday, at 5-7 pm, the first of several fora on the astrological worldview is entitled Beyond the 13th Zodiac Sign: Making Astrology Work for You.

The science of astrology will be highlighted as three astrologers will come together to discuss the recent astronomical finding vis-a-vis the astrological practice, zodiac signs and its implications in one's personality and daily life.

Astrologers Resti Santiago and Henry Palacios, with museum curator Jeannie Javelosa will discuss and share their views on the subject.

Other topics to be touched on include a quick history of astrology, the things to focus on for one's personality and how astrology can help the changing spiritual evolution happening today.

Because seating capacity is limited, interested participants may call the Yuchengco Museum at 889-1234 to reserve a seat.

The forum fee is Php 300 which allows one to view the ongoing exhibitions of the museum.

Balatik, Filipino hunting trap inspired by Orion: On reading about Philippine pre-colonial astronomy

By Col. Romeo Solina, PA, retired Col. Romy Solina and his BALATIK diorama A few weeks ago, “Resti” Santiago, an astrologer friend, sent me a book entitled “BALATIK.” It is a book written by a University of the Philippines professor Dante L. Ambrosio, and subtitled “Etnoastronomiya, Kalangitan sa Kabihasnang Pilipino” and obviously in the Tagalog (Filipino) language. Although I was born in Manila and an a Tagalog, I found it rather a problem reading the contents of the book. Still, I must go over it since I must be knowledgeable in my own native language. On the other hand, the author must have a doctorate, having gone through the baccalaureate and master degrees to be able to write this treatise in the university as I also have gone through. The Balatik book concerns the methods used by the natives of the Philippines using the signs in the skies in order to determine certain seasons for their activities, such as fishing, sailing, hunting, planting, harvesting, and so on. ...

100 Years: The Life and Work of Serafin Lanot (Part 2)

By Ime Morales Read Part 1 Overhauling the Zodiac As the best known astrologer in the country at the time, mainly because of his book Astrology Through Filipino Eyes, which was read not only in America but also across Europe, Serafin Lanot was the only Filipino who got invited to attend the international conference of the American Federation of Astrologers or the AFA. In fact, he was made a member of the AFA convention faculty. During the conference, he presented his paper titled, One World, One Astrology. He wrote in that paper: "Now is the time for astrologers to assume the leadership in this fight for change, no longer as mere consultants and counselors to money changers and reactionary leaders, but as leaders themselves during this Age of Aquarius, assuming the mantle of seer and sage that both history and legend have thrust upon us." He went on to propose a "one world, one astrology" based on "reason, intuition and inspiration, to harmoniz...

WILL BBM BE PRESIDENT?

Bongbong Marcos. Image from Wikipedia By Carlota Elauria With contribution of Derrick Jan Lim June 7, 2018   Bongbong Marcos has been in the public eye in recent times, most prominently due to the controversy surrounding his highly-disputed loss in the race for Vice President of the Philippines in the 2016 Elections. With the petition still pending in the Supreme Court, his fate currently hangs in the balance. However, another burning question looms beyond the horizon: will BBM one day sit in Malacanang Palace, under the seal of President of the Philippines? His supporters might beam in hope and anticipation at the thought, while his detractors might yell “nay!” in fear and trepidation. To answer this question, we delve into the study of his natal chart, the transiting planets, and his career history. Upon such investigation, the authors have divided the possibilities into three periods: (1) the present until 2022 via President Duterte’s term; (2) the 2022-2028 Pre...
